Solar Energy: Photons to Fuels with Dr. Kirk at UNM in Albuquerque for two months as a summer intern.
This project includes literature review, lab experiments, presentation development, and frequent check-ins and updates with Dr. Kirk. Along with the material that was already laid out to go over for the summer, the first two weeks yielded promising enough results that there is a paper to be published this year based on the two weeks, which will include information from lab reports my partner and I turned in during our time in the lab. This program provides a better understanding of not only how solar cells work, but what the components are made of and just how important the materials in the composition are to efficient performance. The next projects laid out for the summer offer insight and understanding into what sorts of experiments go into such developments, as well as real world applications of lessons learned in previous courses, as well as some exciting new procedures.
